On this episode, a brief talk about what Copyright consists of.

We touch into the 3 main Publishing Copyrights:

Performance Royalties, Mechanical Rights and Synchronisation. How and who in the UK (PRS for Music and MCPS) operate. How performance rights are collected and distributed.

Basically a very brief insight into the legalities of Copyright, arguably the main source of income for independent artists and certainly a major one for mainstream ones.

Ep. 16 British Music History with Carl Casagrande

On this episode, yours truly, takes you briefly through the UK music history from the 50's all the way into the 2000's.

This was an essay I have written, which I think it's a good summarised way to tell, more or less, what has happened in all those decades of amazing music produced by British artists.

It's also very short, which makes me believe it might be a cool idea to bring other subjects into those short episodes. Let me know what you think please :)

 

 

Ep. 15 Hayo De Boeft (Production Manager, Muse, Within Temptation etc)

Hayo is an experienced Senior Production Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the entertainment industry.

 

Skilled in Tour Management, Production Management, Concert Production, Live Events, and Theatre. 

 

Worked for Mojo Concerts (Live Nation NL) and tours with the likes of System of a Down, Within Temptation, Muse etc.

Ep. 14 Theo Van Der Loo (Musician, Ego Kill Talent)

Theo Van Der Loo is a business man, working in several different fronts. Founder and Producer of the very successful Brazilian festival SWU. 

Theo plays guitar on the Brazilian rising stars EGO KILL TALENT and on this conversation we went through so much, music business, awareness and consciousness, meditation, relationships and obviously, the secrets behind EGO KILL TALENT formation and how he alongside his band mates managed to put the band on the eyes of some of most the powerful music business companies in the world!

 

Certainly one of the most insightful chats I've had so far and surely Theo will be back for more. In the mean time, enjoy! 

Ep. 13 Obie O'Brien (Grammy Winner, Producer, Studio Designer, Songwriter)

Obie O’Brien is a Grammy-winning engineer and producer. While best-known for his longtime work with Jon Bon Jovi, Obie has a massive credits listincluding Barbra Streisand, The Marvelettes, Cole Redding, The Nighthawks, Alice Cooper, and many more. In 2010, Obie received a Grammy award for his engineering & production on Oh Happy Day, as well as a nomination for his work on Shawn Colvin’s record Shawn Colvin Live.

Ep. 12 Olly Smith (Wicked Stone, Lauren Harris, SHS)

Olly Smith is a professional drummer, guitarist and songwriter who has been performing since the age of fifteen. 

 

In 2007 Olly Smith became backline tech for The Lauren Harris Band, fronted by vocalist Lauren Harris, daughter of Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris. 

 

Olly worked for The Lauren Harris Band on the 2008 Iron Maiden - Somewhere Back In Time Tour at some of the world's largest venues including the legendary Madison Square Garden, New York. 

 

Within a year Olly Smith became the bands drummer, replacing sticksman Tommy McWilliams, and toured regularly including to support Iron Maiden on their 2009 leg of The Somewhere Back In Time World Tour, travelling the globe on Iron Maiden's customised 757 aircraft performing to sold-out stadiums and arenas including a gig in front of 80,000 people in São Paulo. Later that year the band also supported Mötley Crüe on the European leg of their Crüe Fest tour. 

 

Olly Smith later the drummed for upcoming UK band Six Hour Sundown, also featuring Lauren Harris. They toured the UK and Europe, including festival performances such as Download Festival, Sonisphere (Spain) and Graspop (Belgium) amongst others. 

 

Olly Smith's studio experience is also extensive, including having recorded an album with Kevin Shirley at the legendary Compass Point Studios. His drumming style is solid and tight with heaps of groove, adding flourishes where necessary but always complimentary to the song. 

 

Currently, Olly drums for the British band Wicked Stone!

Ep. 11 Ruud Jolie (Guitarist, Within Temptation/Maiden United)

Ruud Jolie is the lead guitarist of the symphonic metal band Within Temptation.

Ep. 10 Mikkel Borg Bjergsø (Founder/Owner/CEO Mikkeller ApS)

Mikkel is the founder, owner and CEO of one of the world's most acclaimed microbreweries, Mikkeller.

 

Mikkel is the world’s most prolific craft brewer and has become a celebrity in his own right, a leading figure in a sector that has gone from a niche trend to something  mainstream.

 

He is a bad ass runner himself and his company endorses 2 running clubs, the world famous Mikkeller Running Club, which is a social gathering that involves running and drinking beer, not necessarily always on this particular order, and the Hechman Mikkeller Running Club, focused on the development of talented fast runners.

 

Mikkeller has expanded from his base in Copenhagen to create a brewing and hospitality empire in 50 very diverse locations worldwide— from San Diego to Taipei, Tokyo, Bucharest, Warsaw and even Torshavn, capital of the Faroe Islands.

Ep. 09 Phil X (Bon Jovi/The Drills)

Phil X is the lead guitarist on the American mega band Bon Jovi and also on The Drills. He has collaborated throughout his career with the likes of Rob Zombie, Tommy Lee, Avril Lavigne, Alice Cooper just to name a few. 

Husband and a father, at the age of 53, he is living the absolute dream!

Ep. 08 Wiley Hodgden (Musical Artist/Chevy Metal/Birds of Satan)

Wiley was Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) drum tech and eventually became singer/bass of Chevy Metal and The Birds of Satan, both alongside Taylor. After many years on the road with The Foo Fighters, now Wiley, a father and a husband, works at 606 Studios in Los Angeles as operations and facilities manager!
